Every charge goes straight to your account.
There is no escrow, no platform balance and no release step. A deposit, a milestone, a bill, a retainer into trust — each is a Stripe charge to your own connected account at the moment it is paid, on the rail the client chose. ROJI takes its percentage as the application fee on the charge and never holds your money.
The money, in one paragraph
A quoted engagement is paid through its schedule. When a charge falls due — on acceptance, on a date, when you mark a milestone reached, on delivery, or when you bill it — the client or their agent pays it by card, by ACH, through a hosted pay link, or from a wallet over x402; or you record a cheque or wire that arrived outside ROJI. The payment is a Stripe destination charge to your connected account, settling on your normal payout schedule. A retainer or deposit bound for trust goes to your client trust account, a second connected account, and arrives whole. A fixed-price listing is simpler still: paid in full by card when the order is placed.
The charges you can raise
| Charge | Falls due | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Deposit | On acceptance | Yours on receipt. May be paid into trust. |
| Retainer | On acceptance | Held against future bills; drawn down as you bill. Into trust where connected. Evergreen: topped up when it falls below the floor the quote set. |
| Milestone | When you mark it reached | Planning, fieldwork, draft — named stages, each with its own amount. |
| Progress bill | When you raise it | A fixed interim amount. |
| Time and expenses | When you raise them | Dated entries — hours at a rate, or expenses passed through — against the cap in the quote. Never exceeded silently. |
| Final balance | On delivery | Can be drawn from the retainer. |
| Installment | On a date | A dated payment plan. |
| Recurring fee | On a date, then monthly / quarterly / annually | The next occurrence is raised when the previous one is paid. |
Any charge can carry net terms — net 30 from the day it falls due — and the engagement can allow autopay, which charges the client's saved method when a charge falls due, bank first.
The rails a client can pay on
Card
Settles at once. You set a ceiling on your engagements above which card is not offered, so a $40,000 retainer does not go on a corporate card at 3.2%.
ACH debit
The default for five-figure fees. A debit comes back processing and settles in a few business days; the charge reads as paid when Stripe confirms it. A returned debit fails the charge and it can be paid again. Processing is 0.8%, capped at $5.
Pay link
A Stripe-hosted page for one charge, offering card or bank. Hand it to a client with nothing saved, or to their accounts-payable desk; it expires if unpaid and the charge returns to due.
Cheque, wire, x402
Money that arrived outside ROJI is recorded against the charge with its reference; no money moves and the percentage accrues to your monthly statement. An agent can settle a charge from a wallet over x402; you are paid in dollars through Stripe either way.
What ROJI takes, and from where
Storefront and invited engagements
2% on the first $10,000 you collect in the calendar month and 1% above it, plus processing at cost, taken as the application fee on each charge — your payout is net of it. Nothing is taken from a charge paid into trust: its percentage accrues to a monthly statement and is collected from later operating payouts. The $800 storefront fee is a Stripe subscription, billed to your firm's own payment method. Full detail on the pricing page.
Directory orders
On an order ROJI sources, the buyer pays your list price plus a 15% platform fee and processing, all on top. You receive your list price in full; the fee is the application fee on the buyer's payment and never comes out of what you quoted.
When money moves back
Refunds on an engagement
Yours to make, per charge, in full or in part; the fee on the refunded amount is reversed. If either side calls off an engagement under way, unpaid charges are voided and what has been paid stays paid until you refund what was unearned — only the parties know what was.
Refunds on a fixed-price order
Unchanged: an automatic full refund if you decline the order or miss the SLA you published; a refund window after delivery (7 days by default, 3 to 30 at your discretion) in which a buyer can file a request you answer within 72 hours or it auto-approves; mediation as the backstop. As merchant of record you carry chargeback liability, as on any card sale.
